It’s usually also the room, where we spend time with our guests and throw parties. Read below article to find some tips, that should help make your living room stunning!
How to start?
If you are about to design your living room, you can choose from two options: first of all, you can always ask a professional interior designer for some help or secondly – you can just plan everything on your own. Both options have its advantages and disadvantages.
When buying a project from a professional designer, you can be sure everything inside your living room will be in line with current trends. However, will it suit your taste?
When planning the living room on your own, you can be sure, that while there is a high chance some details will not be in line with the newest trends, you can also be 100% sure everything will be made just how you want it. Pluses? The cost and possibility to plan every detail of the room. Minuses? Well, you are not a specialist, so if you’ve never arranged a room before, some things may prove to be a poor choice. However, if you prefer to arrange the living room on your own, we’ve prepared some tips for you.
Try to find something you like
Luckily, many online and stationery shops are preparing exhibitions, showing different ideas for the living room arrangements. If you have totally no idea how the space should look – we strongly advise you check out some available options and work with that. When you will see a project you like, focus on the things that you find nice and functional and try to remove those, that you think are unnecessary or do not meet your taste. This way – you will get the general idea on how you want the room to look.
Never use all the available space
When planning your living room, remember to leave some space free. Chairs, table, the sofa – those are all necessary pieces of your living space, but when arranging, try to plan everything correctly. Oterwise, your room will be stuffy and not very functional. Of course, you the living room is quite big, the space is not a huge problem, but still – we strongly advise to measure everything before buying all the furnitures. It might be a good idea to measure individual pieces of furniture and use some tape or cardboard boxes of the same dimensions to check how the room will look when it is full.
Pro tip: if you are not buying chairs and table from one set, always check, whether the chairs will fit between the legs of the table. If not, you will lose a lot of space in the room.
How to make room look bigger?
Your living room is small? Luckily, you can try to make it look bigger without demolishing a wall or giving up on some furniture. First of all, play with the light. Small spaces love the natural light, so if you can, remove the curtains or use transparent ones. What is more, always use light colours on the walls and, preferably, furniture.
Remember, that while now arranging the living room might seem next to impossible, everything will start to fit together as soon as you start working on it!
